Embraer and Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) announced at the AFA Air, Space & Cyber Conference that they have signed an agreement for the sale of one A-29 Super Tucano aircraft. The transaction comes ahead of an anticipated Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case.

By securing the aircraft early, SNC enables its foreign partner to immediately begin pilot training upon contract award and shortens the timeline to Initial Operational Capability (IOC) by up to one year. The aircraft will be produced at Embraer’s defense production line in Jacksonville, Florida.
Over the past decade, Embraer and SNC have jointly delivered nearly 50 of these multi-mission combat aircraft worldwide. With more than 600,000 flight hours logged, the A-29 Super Tucano has proven itself as a rugged and versatile platform for light attack, ISR, advanced pilot training, CAS, and operations from austere airfields.

“The Super Tucano offers effective and affordable capabilities that address the growing needs of U.S. and allied forces,” said Frederico Lemos, CCO of Embraer Defense & Security. Ray Fitzgerald, SNC’s SVP of Strategy and Technology, emphasized that SNC’s early investment ensures faster IOC and extended training time for pilots.
The A-29 Super Tucano is currently in service with 22 air forces around the globe.
