The Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) is stepping into a new era of advanced training with a groundbreaking partnership between Top Aces and AEC Skyline. Announced today at the NIDV Exhibition Defense & Security (NEDS) in Rotterdam, this framework agreement will deliver next-generation Adversary Air (ADAIR) training services under a “proof of concept” initiative starting in January 2025.
Transforming Training with Cutting-Edge Capabilities
As the Netherlands continues to modernize its defense forces, the need for sophisticated training solutions to challenge its F-35-equipped squadrons has never been greater. The AEC Skyline-Top Aces collaboration brings an unparalleled combination of expertise and technology to meet this demand. With their fleet of 3rd and 4th Generation ADAIR platforms, including the world’s only commercial F-16 Fighting Falcon, A-4 Skyhawk, and Alpha Jet, Top Aces replicates near-peer threats with unmatched realism.
The partnership also extends beyond ADAIR, offering related Advice and Assistance (A&A) as well as Concept Development and Experimentation (CD&E) support. Together, the two companies are poised to redefine the way the RNLAF trains its Air Combat, Air Mobility, and Defense Helicopter Commands.
A Proven Partnership
This isn’t the first time AEC Skyline and Top Aces have joined forces. Since their partnership began in 2023, the duo has played a pivotal role in exercises like “Frisian Flag,” one of the largest combined air operations drills in Europe. Their shared mission is clear: to enhance the quality of training for F-35 operators and beyond.
“Since partnering with Top Aces, our goal has been to elevate the standard of training for F-35 operators,” said Stef Have, CEO of AEC Skyline. “We are thrilled to deliver on this promise for the Netherlands under this new initiative.”
Driving Innovation in NATO Training
Top Aces has a proven track record of providing advanced ADAIR solutions to global defense leaders, including the U.S. Department of Defense, the Canadian Department of National Defence, and the German Bundeswehr. With its proprietary Advanced Aggressor Mission System (AAMS), Top Aces integrates high-end sensors such as AESA radar and IRST, offering unmatched flexibility and performance.
“Being selected by the RNLAF is a great honor,” said Didier Toussaint, Group President of Top Aces Inc. “Together with AEC Skyline, we’re ready to shape the next generation of Dutch combat leaders.”
A Stronger Future for the Netherlands
This new framework agreement is more than just a contract—it’s a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation in the defense sector. By combining Top Aces’ cutting-edge technology with AEC Skyline’s expertise, this partnership will ensure the Netherlands remains at the forefront of air combat readiness.
